Message From The Seller

“For us the garden and its stunning dual aspect views stole our heart in combination with a cute character property in walking distance to the oldest part of medieval Domfront and 3 boulangeries.
The house is luminous, comfortable and cosy (especially in the winter with a log burner and a bath), a peaceful and rural atmosphere (part of the chateau conservation area) and at the same time benefiting from all the conveniences offered by a town.
We have truly cherished the house that has been our genuine sanctuary and joy.”

Townhouse near castle, with garden and long views in medieval Domfront, Normandy

This beautiful house was built over 300 years ago in the shadow of the castle of King Henry II and Queen Eleanor of Acquitaine. The house has been completely renovated over the last 14 years by French artisans, with works overseen by a French Architect.  It was taken back to bare walls, then put back together again to create a light, well-appointed, pleasing environment in which to holiday or live.  The owners let the property when they are not using it, although it is only ever let to a couple and they do not have access to the owners’ bedroom.  It has a proven holiday rental potential and website.  It would be an ideal holiday or permanent home. Viewing is highly recommended and the price includes most of the lovely furniture.

The property is situated in the north west of France,  in the department of Orne in Normandy. The property is in a quiet residential position on the outskirts of the medieval market town of Domfront with shops, schools and all amenities.  Also nearby, you will find Lassay-les-Chateaux (13km), with its picturesque castle and lake. Bagnoles de l’Orne, about 22km away, is a spa resort set around a lake with a casino, many restaurants and shops.  La-Ferté-Macé (15km away) is a pretty town with a large Leclerc supermarket. The town has a leisure lake with a swimming beach, a climbing wall and a par-three golf course.   The larger town of Mayenne is 27 km away.  The UNESCO heritage site of Mont Saint Michel is 80km and the D-Day landing beaches are 112km.  The nearest mainline train station is at Flers (30km) with the TGV at Laval (52km) and airport and ferry are at Caen Carpiquet (76km).  Rennes airport is also within easy reach (98km).
