As regards the things we would say about the house – certainly the thing that sold it to us was the staircase, so imposing. Also the wooden floor in the master bedroom. Many of the original features that we have tried to incorporate in modernising it, such as the master bathroom’s cast-iron bath and 1930s basin. The 360 degree views. What we also liked was that you are 5 minute drive from Brecey, but you can go out for a run or bike ride for an hour and not see another person. All of the improvements in the house, ie pointing and roof of the house, attic, double glazed windows, log burners,  central heating, kitchen units, master bedroom ensuite have all been put in in the last 12 years by us.

Super three storey country house with large garden and barn

This lovely detached stone house stands in a quiet position surrounded by its own garden with open views over surrounding farmland.  There are plenty of character features including exposed stone walls and beams and a fabulous conversion of the loft space.  This spacious area is currently open plan ready for a new owner to decide on the layout. Viewing is highly recommended.

The property is situated in the Manche area of Lower Normandy.  The nearest beach at St Jean le Thomas, in the bay of Mont St Michel, is approximately 35 minutes by car and the port of Granville around 1 hour. The D-Day landing beaches between Caen and Bayeaux are about  1 1/2 hours  by car.  The golf course at Lac Dathée (near Vire) is about 20 minutes away.  The property is well positioned for transport links with Rennes airport  approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive and Dinard airport  approximately 1 hour 30 minutes drive.  The port at Caen is  approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive, St Malo approximately 1 hour drive and Cherbourg approximately 2 hour drive.   Le Havre is around 2 and a half hours and Calais – 4 and a half to 5 hours.

The house is within walking distance of a boulangerie/bar-brasserie/tabac and an easy walk into the woods and the bridleway GR22. It is a 5 minute drive to the nearest town of Brecey for supermarkets, etc.  Local facilities are at nearby Brécey with shops, schools, doctor’s surgery, etc. The large town of Avranches is a 25 minute drive.
