Barenton

The pretty town of Barenton is nestled between many a thriving town such as Mortain, Domfront and Saint-hilaire-du-harcouët.

It is in the Manche region of Normandy and, like so many of our towns, has so much to offer as either a holiday or a permanent home.

You have easy access to beautiful points of interest such as Domfront – which we have written about here. Saint-hilaire-du-harcouët written about here and Mortain here.  You are also just under an hour away from the thriving, world renowned tourist attraction, Mont St Michel and a little over an hour away from Carolles beach.

So an excellent base to be and you will not be short of things to see – regardless of whether or not this will be your holiday or a permanent residence given all the larger towns that surround it but equally all the amenities that you have within the town itself.

There is a local supermarket, florist/gif shop, electrical appliance store, builders merchant, kebab shop, a wonderful boulangerie, bars, a bank, doctors, restaurant, a car dealership and more!

If you are into cycling you could join the local cycling club in the nearby town of Le Teilleul where they train through Barenton and the surrounding breath taking countryside. They have also been known to  host cycle races during the summer, so if not partaking you can cheer on the riders whilst enjoying a nice drink from one of the bars.

Just a short walk from the main bourg you have a pretty park nestled in the grounds of Chateau de Bonnefontaine. There are childrens’ play equipment and places to have a picnic. A little further, approximately a 5 minute drive, you have the Pear Museum where they make sparkling cider which is nestled in the grounds of a nature and  UNESCO geo park making this a great day out for all the family.

All in all, Barenton is a charming French town within its own right but is also close to many other wonderful larger towns. We hoped you enjoyed this little insight.
