Message From The Seller

“We bought our lovely cottage from a young family and spent many happy times there for long weekends and holidays. It is conveniently placed near the bustling town of St Hilaire du Harcouet and would be great either as a holiday home or as a starter home for a young family. It also has the advantage of being situated in a peaceful, rural location but without being isolated.”

Property Video Tour

Detached village house with garden and barn

The present owners have enjoyed the property for about 20 years.  The slate roof was replaced about 15 years ago, the property was re-pointed and the en-suite shower room has been created.  There is further potential, subject to planning, to extend the accommodation into the attached barn.   Viewing is highly recommended.

The property is situated in a small hamlet near Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, in a hamlet of about 300 people, behind the church overlooking fields on 2 sides..  It is in the area where Normandy meets Brittany and the Pays de la Loire regions. The village is located in the north west of France in the department of Manche of the French region Basse-Normandie. Close to the property tourist attractions include Mont St Michel (38 km), Coutances Cathedral (61 km), The Parliament of Brittany (Parlement de Bretagne) (72 km). The nearest large town is Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët at about 5 km which offers a wide range of shops, schools, doctors’ surgeries etc. and a busy market.  It is about 30 minutes’ drive to the beaches on the west coast of Normandy. There are many quiet rural backroads where you can cycle.  From nearby Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët you can pick up the “Véloscénie” which is a 450 km cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel.  It is about an hour’s drive from Saint Malo and 1.5 hours drive from Caen Ouistreham and a 2 hour drive from Cherbourg.  It is a 3 hour drive from Dieppe and less than 5 hours from the Calais ferry port.
