Message From The Seller

It is with heavy hearts that we are selling our beloved Malloué cottage. We have enjoyed 8 of the past 10 Christmases around its warm fireplace and have gone on a traditional New Year’s Day hike and picnic along the River Vire regardless of weather conditions. We purchased it in late summer of 2010 from a darling English couple who had lovingly restored the cottage from ruins over a period of 30 years during vacations from the UK. They shared stories of how several of their friends had come to visit them at Malloué and then decided to purchase property in Malloué and its surroundings. In fact, in 2011, after friends from Paris came to stay with us in the cottage, they decided to leave Paris and they then purchased and restored a home in Saint Michel de Montjoie in the Manche department. Needless to say, there is something magical about the place, and we invite you to discover it for yourself.

Attractive cottage with attached barn, garage and garden in stunning location

This charming detached cottage boasts plenty of character features including a granite fireplace with woodburner, exposed stone walls and beams.  The accommodation is arranged over 3 floors and there is plenty of room to extend into the attached barn and old house.  The majority of the outside space is the other side of the lane where you will find the garage with loft space over and a separate stone barn used as a wood store. The cottage is located in the Gorges of the River Vire offering scenic hiking, road cycling, and mountain biking routes as well as picnic areas.  Just up the hill from the cottage you will find the picturesque Church of Our Lady of Malloué, home to an altarpiece of the seventeenth century and statues of local Saint Ortaire and Saint Gilles dated from the fifteenth century. Viewing is highly recommended.
